Ahhh champagne towers! This has to be my favourite 2022/23 wedding trend. So classic, so sophisticated and they always look great in wedding photographs. Plus your guests love them!
Lots of my couples have had a champagne tower at their wedding reception and I know how much they loved their wedding photographs of it.
I’m getting so many of my 2023 couples asking about them so I thought I’d put together my top tips for perfect champagne tower wedding photographs. If this is something you’re considering at your wedding then you don’t want to miss this blog!
7 Tips for a Perfect Champagne Tower Wedding Photograph
- Don’t run out of champagne!
- Choose the correct glasses
- Speak to your photographer
- Get close together
- Make sure the tower is sturdy
- Consider the tower size
- Cheat a little bit
Don’t run out of champagne!
The perfect champagne tower will require at least 5 or 6 bottles of champagne. You definitely don’t want to run out after filling the first few glasses.
Remember, the bottom level of a 4-tier tower will be 16 glasses.
Choose the correct glasses
Speaking of glasses, chose coupe glasses and make sure they’re all identical. If your wedding venue doesn’t have any or doesn’t have enough, then you can hire or purchase your own and ask your venue to set it up.
Having glasses that look beautiful and all match will make for the perfect champagne tower wedding photograph!
Speak to your wedding photographer
Speak to your wedding photographer ahead of time. We will know the best spot to set it up so you will not only have the perfect champagne tower wedding photograph, but you will have a beautiful backdrop in your photographs.
Get close together
Get close together! When you’re filling up those glasses make sure that you’re standing next to each other. Snuggle up, and have a kiss or two. Those little moments make for the perfect champagne tower wedding photographs. Us photographers love a bit of romance!
Make sure the tower is sturdy
Make sure your champagne tower is set up on a sturdy, mid-size table. You don’t want the table wobbling halfway through a pour!
And you definitely don’t want the table to be too tall. You want to see your guests and vice versa. If you’re having an extra high tower with lots of tiers then you’ll want a lower table and if you have a smaller tower then you can easily use a higher table.
Remember, you’ll both be pouring the champagne so you need to be able to reach the top of the tower easily.
Consider the tower size
Now, when it comes to tower size big isn’t always the best. I’ve realised that around 4 levels of glasses – so a 4 tier champaign tower – make for the best wedding photographs.
Cheat a little bit
Cheat a little bit. Ask your wedding venue to pre-fill the bottom level for you ahead of the ‘official’ pour. Otherwise, it takes ages to fill all the glasses!
